Christmas 2012

Merry Christmas!  I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas filled with love and the Joy of celebrating the birthday of our Lord and Savior.  I know we had so much fun with both of our families and the time just flew by.

We headed back to NW Iowa on Saturday and stopped at my sister's house in Emmetsburg.  We had a little christmas there and had some great food!

We then headed to Sheldon and got ready for the Christmas with my family.

My nieces and I spent some time together making puppy chow, apple pie, apple pie tart things, and scotcheroos.
Molly and I baking.

Melissa was helping too.

We opened presents with my family on Christmas Eve.  The boys were very spoiled but it was so much fun to watch them open up their presents.  They are truly loved!

Here is the wonderful lady in charge of our Christmas Eve.  She put out quite the spread of food and drinks and presents.  #1 Mom if you ask me!

The 3 little boys before we started opening up presents.
Keegan, Reid, and Jack

Jack reading a book he opened up from his cousin Keegan.

Lyle opening his present.

Me helping Reid to get his present started.

Jack would not take his eyes off of his new train set.  In fact, when asked if he wanted to open another present, he responded with, "No thanks."

Opening presents kind of wore Reid out.  Melissa sang him to sleep :)

We got Jack to open up some more presents and he loved his Thomas the Train table.  Here he is with his cousin Keegan.

We set out cookies and milk on Christmas Eve for Santa.  The next morning we found a note and some presents from Santa.

Here we are reading the note that Santa left.

Santa brought Jack just what he asked for...a big fire truck!  Jack still talks about how Santa came down Grandma's chimney and left him a fire truck.  It is so cute.

It wouldn't be right if I didn't post a picture of Reid and my dad.  Reid loves it when my dad sings to him and has even started singing with him.  It is so cute!

On Christmas morning, we headed to Hull to go to church with Lyle's parents and then to their house for lunch and to open presents.

Here are all the De Wild boys together.
Gavin, Kiland, Dominique, Reid, and Jack

Reid had enough of the pictures!

Big brother Jack tried to cheer him up by showing him an ornament.

Here is Grandpa reading the Christmas Story to the boys just like he does every year.  I love this tradition!

Jack opening up his present.
He was such a big boy opening up his presents.

Reid had fallen asleep just before we started opening up presents so he got to open his up as soon as he got up from his nap.  Here he is with Grandma opening up his presents.

We then played some games and discovered that Reid has a new talent...see pictures below :)

He can hold cards between his toes.

See mom?!

We headed back to Ankeny on Wednesday but not before we stopped in Emmetsburg at my sister's house.  We had to check on my brother-in-law, Mark.  He had his hip replaced as was not able to be with us at our Christmas celebrations.  As Jack would say, "Mark has an owie leg so he has to use a candy cane to walk."

All in all it was a great Christmas and we are truly blessed.  Thank you to our wonderful families for all their love and gifts and to God for perfect gift.  When I put Jack to bed on Christmas Eve, I told him that the next day was Jesus' birthday.  He insisted that we sing Happy Birthday to Jesus after our prayers.  That is exactly what we did!
